Zipic (the “App”) is an image compression app made by 5KM. This page explains, in plain language, what Zipic does and does not do with your data. The short version: your images are processed on your own device and never uploaded; the App may send a small amount of anonymous usage data, which you can turn off, and connects to a few services needed for updates, licensing and trials.
Our Core Promise: Your Images Never Leave Your Device
All image compression, conversion and optimization in Zipic happens locally on your computer. We do not upload your images, and we never receive, view or store them. We also never collect your file names, file paths, image metadata (such as EXIF or GPS data), or clipboard contents.
Compression itself works offline. An internet connection is only used for the supporting features described below.
Anonymous Usage Data
The App may send anonymous usage data to help us improve Zipic. You can turn it off at any time (see “How to Opt Out”). It may include:
  • which features are used and the operation path, for example: the app was launched, onboarding steps, a compression task finished (with counts of files succeeded, failed and skipped), the formats and options used, the amount of space saved, and steps in the trial or purchase flow;
  • basic environment information: app version, operating system version, device model, interface language and your system region setting.
We use this to understand which features matter, find problems and decide what to improve. This data is processed by our analytics provider. The analytics ID is a random identifier that is not linked to your license or trial, and IP-based geolocation is not used.
Other Network Services the App Uses
These are not analytics. They exist so the specific feature can work:
  • Updates: the App checks for new versions through our update service, or receives updates through the app store you installed it from.
  • License activation and validation: when you activate or validate a Pro license, the App sends your license key, a device identifier derived from your hardware, your device name and your operating system version to the licensing service that issued your key. For some keys this is Lemon Squeezy, which also receives the email you enter as the activation name.
  • Free trial: to manage the free Pro trial, the App sends a device identifier, an install ID, the app version, the operating system version, your language and your device name to our trial service.
  • Compression components: the App may download the official compression components it needs. This download is only used to get those components.
  • Settings sync (optional): if you turn on settings sync, your settings and presets are synced through your own cloud account (such as Apple iCloud). That data is handled by the cloud provider and is not sent to us.
  • Payments and app stores: purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy on its own website. If you install Zipic from an app store, that store handles the download and updates. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
What We Never Collect
  • Your images or their content.
  • File names or file paths.
  • Image metadata (EXIF, GPS, etc.).
  • Clipboard contents.
  • Your email address or license key as part of usage data.
  • Your location based on your IP address.
Third-Party Services
To be transparent, these are the third parties involved:
  • Mixpanel — anonymous usage analytics.
  • Keygen — license activation and validation.
  • Lemon Squeezy — payments, order management and activation of the keys it issues.
  • Cloud and app store providers (such as Apple iCloud and the Microsoft Store) — optional settings sync, downloads and updates.
  • Datafast, Affonso and Chatwoot — used on our website only (see “Our Website”).
Each of these providers handles data under its own terms and privacy policy.
We do not sell your data, and the App contains no advertising.
How to Opt Out
Turn off “Share Anonymous Usage Data” in the App’s settings. From then on the App stops sending anonymous usage data. Compression and the rest of the App are not affected.
The other services listed above (updates, licensing, trial, optional settings sync) exist so those specific features can work, so they are not part of this switch.
Data Retention
We do not keep your images, because we never receive them. Anonymous usage data is kept only as long as needed for product analytics. License and trial records are kept as long as needed to provide, verify and support your license or trial. Because the analytics ID is random and not linked to your license or trial, we generally cannot tie usage data to a specific person. To request access, correction or deletion of data we hold about you (such as license information), contact us at the email below.
Our Website
The Zipic website (zipic.app) uses a few third-party tools:
  • Datafast for website analytics (traffic and page views).
  • Affonso for affiliate referrals: it sets a referral cookie that lasts 30 days so a referred purchase can be credited.
  • Chatwoot for live chat. If you chat with us, the messages and contact details you provide are processed so we can reply.
These apply to the website only, not to the images you process in the App. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Zipic changes or as laws evolve. The latest version is always on this page with its update date, and we will make significant changes clear.
