# Zipic — Native Image Compression for macOS & Windows

Zipic is a native image compression and format conversion utility for macOS and Windows (Beta). It compresses and converts large image batches locally — no uploads, no cloud, no account.

## What it does

- **Batch compress**: drop a folder of thousands of images, get them compressed in seconds. Apple Silicon optimized on Mac.
- **Format conversion**: convert between JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, JPEG XL, TIFF, GIF, ICNS, PDF, SVG, APNG.
- **Resize while compressing**: scale to a target width, height, or percentage in the same pass.
- **Lossless or lossy**: 6 quality levels per format. Progressive JPEG enabled by default.
- **Automation hooks**: folder monitoring, clipboard auto-compress, Apple Shortcuts, Raycast extension, Finder context menu, URL Scheme.

## Supported formats (12 total)

Standard: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF.
Pro: AVIF, JPEG XL (JXL), TIFF, ICNS, PDF, SVG, APNG.

WebP encoding is native — including animated WebP. APNG support is end-to-end (decode + encode). On Windows, ICO takes the place of ICNS.

## How to use it

1. **Drag & drop** images or folders into the main window (Free + Pro).
2. **Notch Drop** — drag onto the MacBook screen notch for instant compression (Pro, macOS).
3. **Clipboard auto-compress** — copy any image and Zipic compresses it automatically (Pro).
4. **Folder monitoring** — point Zipic at a folder and every new image gets compressed (Pro).
5. **Finder right-click** — compress straight from the Finder context menu (macOS).
6. **Raycast / Shortcuts / URL Scheme** — programmatic invocation for automation.

## Windows version (Beta)

Zipic for Windows is in public beta on the Microsoft Store (Windows 10 or later). It ships the full macOS feature set, 1.10.0 additions (multi-output, HDR preservation) included; only minor platform differences remain, such as ICO taking the place of ICNS. One license activates both macOS and Windows, counted per device.

## Why people pick Zipic

- All processing is **on-device**. No cloud upload, no privacy risk, works offline.
- **One-time purchase** for Pro. No subscription, lifetime updates. One license covers macOS and Windows.
- Drop-in replacement for **ImageOptim** with modern format support (AVIF, WebP, JPEG XL) and active development.
- Native on each platform — the Mac app adapts to system theme, respects sandboxing, signed and notarized.

## System requirements

- macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later. Universal binary (Apple Silicon + Intel).
- Windows 10 or later (Beta).
